Being a Rose

Having seen the dark face of humanity,
Chose not not be tainted by it.

Having seen the roughest and the lowest,
Chose not to be reduced by it.

Having faced betrayal,
Chose not to grow bitter.

Having to survive through apathy,
Chose not to lose ability to empathise.

Having lived through dark,
Chose not to lose hope of seeing a sun.

Having surrounded by thorns,
Chose not to become one.

That's how you
Remain a rose between thorns.

The day you get over yourself

You will get over yourself some  day
And you will know what you missed throughout

For yourself were covered in a fog
Vision blurred

I will be far gone by then
Never to return

The day you get over yourself
You will know what you missed

The day we get over ourselves,
One love is all we need

Each Time You Leave

My heart sinks
Each time you leave
And I sit by the shore watching it sink
With no words to describe the sense of restlessness that runs through me
Each time you turn back and leave.

But, soon, it would die too
Giving way to numbness
For, I know you will not stay.

You leave
And the days become dimmer, places quieter.

I wish you knew I am not lying
When I say
This place falls apart without you.
It does fall apart without you.

The System

I have nothing against men, but patriarchy.
I hold no hatred against the other religions, but the ideology of communalism.

I don't hate you old friend for breaking touch, but this fast paced life.
I don't hate you for leaving me, but the circumstances that led us there.

Mum, I don't hate you; but the work that kept you occupied.
Dad, I don't hate you; but your socialization.

Me to Me

I close my eyes
and I am taken to this place I seldom visit
where i am alone
where its me to me

these fancy things boil down, here, to hard realities
what I have and what I don't
does this even matter?
does this even matter,
for you are not here...

Whatever I achieve, wherever I get
the child in me would always crave for your love
But,
the mould in which it was cast has changed
and the breezes among which it flourished and flowered have veered away.
